Court sacks and bars APC Senator from contesting elections

The court of Appeal has sacked the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial district, Senator Mohammed Ohiare of the APC after his election was nullified by the election petition tribunal for not
being qualified to contest the election. The Appeal court has consequently instructed INEC to conduct a fresh election within 90 days without the sacked APC senator.

The election was strongly contested by three strong politicians: Ahmed Ogembe of the PDP, Nurudeen Abatemi of the PPA and Mohammed Ohiare of the APC, the PDP candidate is most likely to win the rerun due to the disqualification of the APC candidate who can no longer participate in the election rerun and the PPA candidate has defected to APC therefore cannot participate in the rerun.
