Edo 2016 Gubernatorial Election: Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu appears to be leading



The Primary Election to elect an Aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election in Edo State scheduled for September 2016 is ongoing.

Above 750 Delegates where accredited comprising of statutory delegates, Board of Trustees members, National Assembly members that are members of PDP, State House of Assembly members that are members of PDP, State Working members and former State Working Committee members that are still in PDP, former Speakers and Deputy Speakers that are still members of the PDP and all ad-hoc delegates from the 192 Wards in Edo State.
The delegates where accredited in three different locations namely; Okada House by Urubi street, for Edo South Delegates, JBS Estate for Edo North Delegates and State Party Secretariat at circular road for Edo Central Delegates.
The contestants for the Edo State Governorship Election on the platform of the PDP are as follows: 1. Chief Solomon Edebiri, 2. Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu and 3. Mr. Mathew Uduoeyekemwen, all from Edo South Senatorial District.
The Chairman of the PDP Edo State 2016 Gubernatorial Committee, H. E. Engr. Dave Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi State appointed by the National Caretaker Committee has declared that the Primary Election is holding in Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Edo State. In accordance with the Electoral Law, representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are on ground monitoring the election in full glare of retinue of security personnel ably led by the State Commissioner of Police, and other security agencies.
Voting and sorting are completed and Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu appears to be leading.
