WIKE SURVIVED FIVE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS IN ELEVEN MONTHS - Information Commissioner

Austin Tam-George
Rivers State Information and Communication Commissioner has revealed in a statement that the
Governor of Rivers State, Bar. Nyesom Wike has so far survived five assassination attempts in the past eleven months. The Commissioner said this while replying to the denial by the Police that Wike's life has been in danger, according to Dr Tam George, Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication, who described the Police's denial as "callous and insensitive", he said "It is no secret that the APC government declared war on the government and people of Rivers State, soon after the party lost the governorship litigation at the Supreme Court in 2016".
Narrating how the first assassination attempt was carried out on the Governor just after the Supreme Court verdict, Dr Tam-George said the governor's Chief Security Officer was removed without any explanation, and that the six police officers dismissed by the Police in January this year played a key role in foiling the series of attempts to kill Governor Wike.
The commissioner also disclosed how two of the dismissed Police Officers were offered a bribe of N150 million, to directly kill the governor after several attempts to assassinate Wike had failed but that the officers declined the offer.
The Commissioner then called on international bodies to carry out independent investigation into what led to the dismissal of the six Police Officers, " We call on the Interpol and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to lead an independent inquiry into why those gallant and patriotic officers were dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force, on spurious charges of misconduct ", Dr Tam- George said.
